For the past four summers I worked at Riverside Bible Camp in Story City as both a counselor and Ministry Assistant. God revealed to me the immense JOY that is found when working with His Children. It was through spending time teaching the Gospel to campers that I realized that I desired to work within the ministry field in the future. After I attended UNI for 2.5 years, I fell in love with the Cedar Falls community — so here I am getting to share Jesus with kids, volunteers, AND live in Cedar Falls! Wahoo! I joined the
staff team in December of 2017.
As a Co-Director of Junior High Ministry, I have the opportunity to help Jesus transform the lives of Jr. High Students in multiple ways including Village Inn breakfast dates, Bible studies, attending sporting activities, confirmation on Sunday mornings, and CHAOS (in partnership with Orchard Hill Church) on Wednesday nights. At CHAOS we value high-fun and high-Truth as play games, hear a large group lesson, and value time in small groups. My role also includes empowering our small group leaders and coordinating events such as Ski & Shop, Incoming 7th Grade Event, and many more. In summary — I build relationships with Jr. High students and leaders in order to help them pursue their own relationship with Jesus!
I am passionate about lower-case letters. It may seem silly, but throughout the years I have found that using lower-case letters allows me to experience God in a new way! As I text/type/write (non-professional items), I only capitalize the words that are directly speaking of God as a way to visually see how He is greater than me. Try it sometime!
In my spare time, I love to welcome people into my home. It brings me great joy to make pancakes, brew some coffee, and put on a Hallmark movie for those in my community. I also enjoy reading, writing, and making memories with my roommates!
One of my favorite verses is…”Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:21-22)
