At this year’s Vacation Bible School, over 230 students and over 145 volunteers got to experience God’s light in a whole new way - as campers at Camp Firelight! By focusing on Psalm 56:3, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you,” we explored what it means to put our trust in God. Across five extraordinary days, our campers learned that we can trust God to go with us, to lead the way, to share wisdom, to give us peace, and to spark joy! These lessons serve as encouragement to follow God and have faith in his plan through five specific bible stories. We started with Jacob’s dream on Day one, and then on Day two, we journeyed with Ruth. Day three found us looking for young Jesus in the temple; on day four, Jesus was with the disciples on a boat in the storm, and on Day five, they walked the road with Philip and the Ethiopian man.

Kids were arranged by grade and rotated around the church to participate in various activity stations. These stations include Bible Drama, where they saw the bible stories come to life. At the craft station, the kids created journals, lanterns, and bracelets, designed crosses, and decorated their class photo frame! At the science station, groups balanced stair steps, learned about magnetic pull, shot rockets, and learned how God uses science, too! Lastly, the kids enjoyed playing various games outside on the front lawn at the recreation station! We began and ended each night with energetic worship, with everyone singing and dancing to our favorite VBS songs!

Thanks to our gracious families and volunteers, we are happy to announce that VBS collected over 200 cans of soup for the Nazareth food pantry and over 1500 plastic grocery sacks to donate to a church that will weave them into mats for the homeless. We will also donate to support our Mission Partners at Nyaka and help our sponsored children. Thank you for an incredible week full of learning, fun, and growing closer to God!
