Discipleship U

Discipleship U LOGO September 2018

Discipleship U: Taking Steps Beyond Sunday Morning is an opportunity to learn about and practice Jesus’ command to His Church to both be disciples and make disciples. Being a disciple of Christ means that we follow Him, that we are changed by Him, and that we are committed to His mission to save people from their sins. As disciples, we engage with head, heart, and hands in following Jesus both within and beyond our church walls to where we live and work and play.

Summer Gather Bible Study – For Such a Time As This:

All are welcome to join us for a three-month Bible study on the book of Esther in June, July and August.  There are 5 times available for each month: June 12-13, July 10-11, August 14-15:

  • 2nd Wednesday at 9:15 in  Room 156
  • 2nd Thursday at 7 a.m. in Room 156
  • 2nd Thursday at 9:15 a.m. in Room 156
  • 2nd Thursday at 1 p.m. in Room 158
  • 2nd Thursday at 7 p.m. – Glen Meadows at New Aldaya

In Session One the story of Esther and her adopted father, Mortecai is revealed.  They are Jews living under the rule of the Persian king, King Ahasuerus.  Esther’s faith is tested when she becomes queen.  Gather with us as we think about how our culture may challenge our faith.

In Session Two, we will learn how Esther uses her strong faith and the love of her people to embolden her to act.  “For such a time as this” is Mortecai’s gentle reminder to Esther that God has placed her in the king’s court to use her voice.  How might God be reminding us of our need to find our voice as we live out our faith?

In Session Three, we will examine the last chapters of the book of Esther, which are full of hope for the future of the Jews.  The defeat of their enemies is to be celebrated in a feast…the feast of Purim.  As women of faith, full of love for God and others, we will consider ways to find and use our voices in our present circumstances – “for such a time as this.” Contact Donna Kirschenmann at dkmann39@yahoo.com with any questions.

Discerning the Voice of God Summer Bible Study:

Join Nikki Britzman for this summer study in Bethel Hall from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on select Wednesday evenings in June and July.

Why wouldn’t we want to live every day with all the capacity, power, and protection we can get?  Each new morning and each new season of life, the Father offers us a holy invitation to advance to the next level with Him.  Against the common objections of our neglect, disinterest, busyness and laziness, He invites us to meet with Him, to speak with Him, where His Spirit can speak afresh to us.  He offers us not so much a destination as a journey….a journey where we’ll actually sense His closeness and be led by His Spirit into alignment with His will.” (Priscilla Shirer).   Please join His as we journey through this 7-week study together this summer!  To get signed up and/or to purchase the book by Priscilla Shirer, email info@naz.org. Class dates are: 6/5, 6/19, 6/26, 7/3, 7/10, 7/17, & 7/24.

Summer of Acts Bible Study:

This Bible Study, led by Andy Walser, will meet on Wednesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. beginning June 12 and concluding on August 28.  We will be using the  Summer of Acts Discussion guide as a starting place for our reflections after reading the weekly chapters in Acts.  All are welcome to join us.  Come when you can!  For more information or with questions, please contact info@naz.org.
